Around 7,000 humanoid robots were sold worldwide in 2025 for industrial use and professional services, according to data compiled by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) and analyzed by Reuters.
The number is still small compared to projections from Bank of America Global Research, which indicates 1.2 million units delivered by 2030. China leads the world market for industrial robots.
For the general secretary of the IFR, Susanne Bieller, humanoids represent only a fraction of the total number of robots in the world, and many of those sold in 2025 did not do productive work: they were acquired by research centers and companies to generate training data for artificial intelligence models.
