The first stage of selection processes in Brazil is increasingly carried out by artificial intelligence. Screening chatbots and algorithmically analyzed video interviews already filter candidates before any human contact, according to experts.

The most common format today is the asynchronous interview: the candidate records video responses to pre-defined questions, and the AI transcribes, organizes and scores the material according to criteria defined by the human resources sector. Chatbots also take on objective checks, such as salary expectations and language proficiency.

Responsibility for the decision, however, remains with the company. The General Data Protection Act guarantees the candidate the right to request review of automated decisions, and the Bill 2.338/2023 classifies AI systems used in recruitment as high risk, in the same standard adopted by the European Union.
