The Cade court closed the investigation into the partnership between Amazon and Anthropic for the development of generative artificial intelligence, which included a minority investment by Amazon in the AI company.
The counselors followed the vote of the rapporteur, José Levi Mello do Amaral Jr., who considered that the operation does not require mandatory notification and that the acquisition of a minority stake does not meet the required revenue criteria.
The rapporteur stated that the collaboration does not constitute an associative contract, but highlighted that the decision does not rule out the possibility of scrutiny if future changes to the agreements reveal risks to competition. The case was opened ex officio in October 2024.
