A fire broke out in the thatched roof of the Osteria restaurant, attached to the Hotel Casas Brancas, on Orla Bardot, in Armação dos Búzios, on Tuesday afternoon (27). Images taken at the scene show flames and smoke coming from the roof, with employees trying to contain the fire using fire extinguishers.
According to reports, the explosion of an Enel transformer caused the fire, which spread quickly through the dry roofing material. There are no reports of injuries. The restaurant is located on Rua Alto do Humaitá, a busy stretch of waterfront where the hotel has its gastronomic spaces.
Until the end of Tuesday night, there was no official announcement about the causes of the explosion or the extent of the damage to the property. The incident takes place at the beginning of the cruise season, the busiest period for tourists in the city.
