Two students from the Lagos Region won the national stage of the 8th edition of the Pioneers Project, from the Aegea Institute, with the BlueCycle project: biospheres produced from fish scales to help retain plastic particles in the water. The result was announced on Wednesday (28).

Beatriz Peixoto Araújo, from Iguaba Grande, and Gunter Carlos Incuto, 17 years old, from Arraial do Cabo, developed the proposal over the course of five months. Before the national competition, the duo came first in the local stage and represented Prolagos among initiatives from various Aegea units.

In addition to the recognition, the two won full undergraduate scholarships at Veiga de Almeida, in Cabo Frio. The national award is scheduled for the first week of December in São Paulo. In this edition, 305 young people signed up in the region and 22 completed the journey.
