A baby anteater was found injured and bleeding on the sandy strip of a Saquarema beach on Sunday after being attacked by dogs. The animal was located by residents and fishermen who were heading to Itaúna beach, including the fisherman known as Diego Pescador.

The group interrupted the route to provide the first care to the animal, which had several injuries, and called the Environmental Guard. The specialized rescue took the baby anteater to a wildlife rehabilitation center, where it receives medication and veterinary care.

The animal is expected to recover to return safely to its natural habitat. The case reinforces the guidance to engage environmental teams whenever a wild animal is found injured or endangered near occupied areas.
