Douglas Ruas (PL) and Eduardo Paes (PSD) were in the first two positions in the first round of the election for governor of Rio de Janeiro and compete in the second stage, scheduled for October 25. With 99.6% of the ballots counted, Ruas adds 49.3% of the valid votes and Paes 42.7%.
Anthony Garotinho (Republicans) finished third with 3.2%, but the votes recorded for him are as annulled sub judice. The TSE also analyzes the appeal against the rejection of the application by TRE-RJ.
If the annulment is definitively maintained, the calculation of the percentages changes and Streets can exceed 50% of the valid votes, which would end the dispute in the first round.
