Three beaches in Cabo Frio received cleaning efforts between the 17th and 21st of September, which removed around 100 kilos of waste from the sand. The actions took place in Praia do Forte, Peró and Pontal do Peró and brought together almost 100 participants. Among the material collected, small waste stood out, such as cigarette butts and plastic fragments — the so-called microtrash, which can remain in the environment for long periods and affect fauna and the marine ecosystem. The mobilization was part of the program for World Beach Cleaning Day, celebrated on Saturday (19). For the municipal secretary of Environment, Climate and Sanitation, Jailton Nogueira, the balance draws attention due to the amount removed and the involvement of the participants. An action scheduled for Praia do Foguete, on the 16th, was canceled due to the weather.
