The Rio Court of Justice has not yet ruled on the Cabo Frio City Council's appeal against the sentence that annulled the current formation of the Municipal Council for Artistic and Cultural Heritage (CMUPAC). The legal dispute began in August last year and has been going on for more than a year without an outcome.
The election of civil society representatives was made by invitation, in June last year, which led to action by the NGO Associação Cabo Frio Solidária alleging fraud. In March, the Court annulled the electoral process and set a four-day deadline for registration and restricted disclosure in the Official Gazette.
The sentence suspended the deliberations of the council's current management, invalidating listing reports and demolition authorizations. Even so, the house of doctor Otacílio Azevedo, on Avenida Assunção, was demolished two months after the decision. The City Hall appealed and is awaiting judgment.
