A yellow-snouted caiman measuring approximately two meters was found inside a grease trap in the backyard of a farm in Campos Novos, in Cabo Frio. The animal was rescued by the Maritime and Environmental Guard Group, from the Secretariat of Security and Public Order.
The team was called by the resident and carried out the capture following procedures to avoid risks to the alligator and people in the area. After the rescue, the animal was released into its natural habitat.
The advice is not to try to capture, surround or remove the animal yourself, keep children and pets away from the area and report the case to the authorities. In Cabo Frio, the call can be made by calling 153 from the Municipal Civil Guard.
