The Roberto Chabo State Hospital (HERC), in Araruama, registered 23 notifications of potential organ donors with Rio Transplantes in 2026 and carried out 17 organ and tissue collections. The data was presented this Thursday (24), during the Green September program.
According to the coordinator of the Hospital Donation Team for Transplants (e-DOT), Michele Guedes, 38% of the families approached this year refused authorization for the donation, which remains the unit's main challenge. In the last nine years, the hospital has received more than 300 notifications from potential donors.
During the campaign, family members of donors participated in a tribute in the Organ Donor Garden, a space created three years ago in the hospital area, where each family that authorizes the donation plants a jasmine seedling. Kidney recipient Cilange Carvalho, who received the organ in 2010, also participated in the meeting.
