After more than a decade closed, the São Benedito Chapel, in the Passagem neighborhood, in Cabo Frio, will be reopened this Monday (5), a day dedicated to the saint. The ceremony takes place at 7pm, in Praça de São Benedito, in front of the chapel.
The reopening will be presided over by Dom José Francisco Rezende Dias, Metropolitan Archbishop of Niterói. The temple underwent conservation and restoration work carried out by Estúdio Sarasa, within the research project São Benedito: Santo de Quem?, financed by Faperj.
Founded in the oldest neighborhood of the city, the chapel is one of Cabo Frio's points of tourist and religious interest. After being closed for more than ten years, it returns to integrate the circuit of religious, historical and tourist spaces of the municipality.
