Búzios has five beaches approved by the International Jury of the Blue Flag Program and occupies second place in Brazil

Búzios had five beaches approved by the International Jury of the Blue Flag Program for the 2026/2027 season. The municipality is consolidated as the only one in the State of Rio de Janeiro and the second in Brazil with this number of certified beaches.

The certified beaches are: Azeda, Azedinha, João Fernandes, João Fernandinho and Tartaruga. The Blue Flag Program is an international certification that requires water quality, environmental management, safety and services standards.

The achievement reinforces Búzios' position as a sustainable tourist destination. The City Hall, through the Department of the Environment, maintains continuous monitoring of beach bathing and infrastructure.
