Búzios won the Bronze 2026 SDG Seal for public policies that meet five Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda. Among them is SDG 5, Gender Equality, aimed at promoting the rights and autonomy of women and girls.

Among the organizations in the State of Rio de Janeiro certified in the Bronze category in the 2026 cycle, the municipality achieved the highest number of validated objectives, with five, and is the only representative from Rio de Janeiro with certification granted directly to a city hall. The certificate was granted by the ODS Institute on September 23.

The certification corresponds to SDGs 1, 2, 4, 5 and 14, which cover poverty eradication, zero hunger, quality education, gender equality and life in water. Among the initiatives recognized are the Casas da Mulher Buziana and the Blue Flag Program, which already certifies five beaches in the municipality.
